You are ready and decided: this year, you are getting married! Congratulations to both of you. What a pleasure to see you unite before God, before the authorities of the Republic with your tavana, or before the officiant of your choice, bringing together your family and friends for this event. It will certainly be the best day of your life.

Your union is important, not just to declare your love for each other. It will unite two families that are, a priori, distant. Your
respective parents may become true friends... or just put up with each other. Regardless, the time when marriages were decided by parents for financial reasons, issues of land to be exchanged or dowries to be collected is long gone, both in Polynesian lands and in France.
Today, in fenua, people get married because they love each other.
So the question is: what kind of wedding are we going to have? A “big wedding”? A wedding to say “I do”, intimately, with those closest to you? Are we going for a serious wedding or a wedding where the only watchword is to have fun? Will you imitate the wedding of that distant friend who invited you and made an impression on you, or the one you dreamed of in your favorite TV series? Will you organize it alone or with the help of a wedding planner (who can also be a guy, but that’s rarer)? What’s the budget? And the party! We forgot to talk about the party. Does it start when the family’s matahiapos, who insist on attending the traditional ceremony, go to bed? Or earlier, as soon as the meal starts, with games, entertainment, dancing... By the way, which venue should you choose to enjoy music all night long? Ah, the music! We forgot the music! We avoid the soundtrack of our favorite brother, whose boom boom has been tiring us for years. So be it! But then, DJ or band? A party atmosphere or international hits? We’re talking about the party, but we don’t even know what to wear: what are the trends this year?
Oh, by the way: marriage means dinner. What are we going to serve our guests to eat? And the drinks, who knows about wine*, cocktails and other champagnes? We also need to talk about the decor: the table, the church or temple, the exchanging of vows in the park we have chosen, or by the sea. Even if the place is beautiful in itself, you will want to put your own mark on it. Flowers? We forgot to mention the flowers: the bride’s bouquet, the groom’s buttonhole, the flowers for the groomsmen and bridesmaids... Wow! That’s a lot to think about.
